In this series, Martha Rosler photo-montaged news images of the Vietnam War from Life magazine with domestic interiors from the magazine House Beautifulimages of soldiers, corpses and the wounded are “brought home” into the glossy world of consumer-driven America. Disseminated in underground newspapers, such as Goodbye to All That!, and on flyers, they were a response to the artist’s frustration with the mainstream media’s use of images and reporting techniques in covering the war, and even some anti-war propaganda.
