This anthology of actions, photographs and texts documents the Guerrilla Art Action Group’s (GAAG) activities from 1969 to 1976. It is an example of “archiving the Left” in a book format rather than ad hoc stapled and photocopied collections characteristic of early new left coalitions, such as the Art Workers’ Coalition (AWC) and the Women Artists in Revolution (W.A.R.). Edited by Jon Hendricks and Jean Toche, it was published by Printed Matter, Inc., a publishing house founded in 1976 as a radical non-profit organisation by art workers including Sol LeWitt and Lucy Lippard.
