The Brazilian Mário Pedrosa (Pernambuco, 1900 – Río de Janeiro, 1981) was one of the pre-eminent Latin American thinkers of the 20th century. In this letter, he writes to Pablo Picasso to request the transfer of Guernica from New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) to Museo de la Solidaridad, Santiago, Chile; in view of the painting being “the eternal symbol of the pain of peoples massacred around the world (…)”
