Willem Sandberg's letter to Pablo Picasso, dated 16 November 1953

Willem Sandberg, director of the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, writes to Pablo Picasso to notify him of the excitement sparked by the exhibition in Italy among friends, artists, critics and the public, with comparisons drawn between the Van Gogh exhibition held in the same place the year before. He also expresses his interest in bringing the show to his museum, where he confirms it will compete for the love of a generation with the great Dutch painter from the previous century.
