Guernica banner at the 8M demonstration

This banner reproduces on fabric the iconic artwork Guernica by Pablo Picasso, accompanied by the slogan “No to war,” as a form of protest against the conflicts in the Middle East. The image was captured on March 8, 2026, in Madrid, during the International Women’s Day demonstration, in front of the Palacio de Fomento, currently the headquarters of the Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación.

The anti-war symbolism of Guernica, universally associated with the rejection of violence and war, is here integrated into the context of feminist demands. Within the framework of March 8 (8M), the work is reinterpreted as a symbol of resistance against contemporary conflicts, reinforcing the message of peace and justice from a feminist perspective.
