1st Issue and Upfront

Political Art Documentation and Distribution (PAD/D) published its first newsletter in February 1981 under the name 1st Issue, later renamed Upfront in the December of that year. In the tradition of the alternative/underground press and earlier collectives — for example the Art Workers’ Coalition (AWC) and Women Artists in Revolution (W.A.R.) — PAD/D publications can be consulted online.
